What we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication provider (Apple or Google). As you use the app, we collect your reading history, story interactions (hearts, shares, skips), reading streaks, notification preferences, timezone, and device language. Premium users may also log mood entries. We collect your device's push notification token to deliver daily story notifications.
How we use your data
We use your data to deliver your daily stories, track your reading progress and streak, personalize your experience based on category preferences, and send push notifications at your chosen time. We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. We use Sentry to collect crash reports so we can fix bugs. We will never sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data storage and third-party services
Your data is stored on Supabase (database and authentication), hosted in the EU. Push notifications are delivered through Expo. Subscriptions are processed by RevenueCat, which communicates with Apple for payment handling. Analytics are processed by PostHog (EU). Error monitoring uses Sentry. The app and API are hosted on Vercel. Your iOS widget stores a small amount of data locally on your device via app groups.
Data retention
Your data is kept as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (available in Settings), all your personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, including reading history, preferences, mood entries, and interactions.
Your rights
Under GDPR (Daymend is operated from Sweden), you have the right to access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, export your data in a portable format, and object to processing. You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings > Delete Account), or contact us for any other requests. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Daymend is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
