Daymend is operated from Sweden and is the controller of your personal data under GDPR. If you have questions about this policy, or want to access, correct, export, or delete your data, contact us using the details at the end of this page.
What we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication provider (Apple or Google). As you use the app, we collect your reading history, story interactions (hearts, shares, skips), reading streaks, notification preferences, timezone, and device language. Premium users may also log mood entries. We collect your device's push notification token to deliver daily story notifications. Our servers also process your IP address to apply rate limits and keep the service secure. Your account identifier and email are shared with our analytics and crash-reporting providers so we can measure usage and diagnose errors, as described below.
How we use your data
We use your data to deliver your daily stories, track your reading progress and streak, personalize your experience based on category preferences, and send push notifications at your chosen time. We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) for product analytics so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. These analytics are linked to your account so we can measure things like retention, but we never use them to advertise to you. We use Sentry for crash and error reports so we can fix bugs. We will never sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data storage and third-party services
Your data is stored on Supabase (database and authentication), hosted in the EU. Push notifications are delivered through Expo. Subscriptions are processed by RevenueCat, which communicates with Apple or Google for payment handling. Product analytics are processed by PostHog (EU) and are linked to your account. Crash and error reports are processed by Sentry and include your account identifier and email so we can trace issues. We use Upstash to apply rate limits, which involves processing your IP address. The app and API are hosted on Vercel. Your home-screen widget stores a small amount of data locally on your device.
Data retention
Your data is kept as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (available in Settings), all your personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, including reading history, preferences, mood entries, and interactions.
Your rights
Under GDPR (Daymend is operated from Sweden), you have the right to access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, export your data in a portable format, and object to processing. You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings > Delete Account), or contact us for any other requests. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Daymend is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
